We're Back

Well, here we are. It's been a long road but the release of Poser Pro has finally happened. Now that we're out I'll be able to post regularly again and with what I hope is usefull information.

The transition from e frontier to Smith Micro has been great, although these types of things always take a while and always seem to push things back. Is it still "Winter"? It's winter somehwere I sure.

Last year we started talking about making some changes with Poser and what new features could and should happen. We get an immense amount of feedback through emails, the forums, phone calls, and trade shows. Overwhelmingly we heard about three things. Network rendering, COLLADA, and what was or was not happening with Body Studio. Of course this got us to thinking about who the different types of users were, what they needed and what we should do about it. Poser Pro was concieved. Of course we'll continue on with Poser development including some updates to Poser 7 to come soon, as well as Poser Pro. Whatever your needs or your choice, we feel that we now have the backing and support from Smith Micro that we've lacked for many years. "We" being pretty much the same bunch of boys and girls who have been working on Poser for many many years.

Thinking back to MetaCreations and even Fractal days we had a way of doing things that seemed to facilitate a constant move forward. Not to suggest that Poser 6 and Poser 7 weren't moving forward but from an internal point of view it's been different. More of a natural ebb and flow between the company, the dev team, and the support staff, than we had at EF.

I hope that this feeling carries out through the community as we move forward and away from the past. We've set up a Wiki for the Poser Pro adopters and hope to see a great deal participation that serves to move Poser Pro forward.

Thanks for reading!
